In Memory of Robert Warholic (aka Uncle Bob)

Uncle Bob was a kind and generous person who had an incredible sense of wit, dry humor, and sarcasm. After serving in the Army, Uncle Bob made his home in New York City and later retired to upstate NY settling into what he called "the quieter life". A devoted son, brother, and uncle, he made sure to be home for the holidays putting a big smile on everyone's faces and putting lots of laughter in the air. He always came bearing gifts from the city or the "North Country" or wherever his recent travels took him. Sadly there was an open chair at the dinner table during the 2019 holiday season as we lost Uncle Bob to complications from kidney cancer on October 1 of that year.

While Uncle Bob made sure he was with us for Thanksgiving and Christmas, New Year's Eve was for celebrating in New York City. That said, he made sure before he left after Christmas, the family had glasses to raise virtually with him for a toast at midnight on New Year's Eve, asking us to reflect on the memories of the past year and look forward to what the next year could hold. An avid photographer, Uncle Bob asked us to capture the best memory of the New Year in frames he gave us and be prepared to share with him when he returned home again. I can't help but think about the things Uncle Bob would say about these crazy times we are living in, but took a stab at it with two of the items in this basket in terms of looking back at 2020 and turning towards 2021.

Consider bidding on this basket to raise a glass or beer as you and family/friends say goodbye to 2020 and hello to 2021.

The basket, which is a gift within itself, contains the following:

  • 4 New Year's Eve themed wine glasses - each with different color inscription so you know whose glass is whose, with "Happy New Year's" on one side and fireworks on the other side
  • A bottle of wine from the North Country - Adirondack Winery's special holiday wine Red Carriage; we loved our time in Lake George with Uncle Bob
  • A wooden bottle caddy with bottle opener with 6 craft beers - the bottle caddy has "Certified Beer Drinker" inscribed on one side and "It's Beer Season" inscribed on the other; includes 4 Two Roads "Road to Ruin" beers (fittingly describes 2020 at times) and 2 Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPAs, a unique and limited edition beer described as the "holy grail for hopheads" (many are looking to 2021 to be a holy grail of sorts)
  • Dip mixes with festive paper snack cups - good for individualized setups of chips/dips, appetizers, or desserts
  • Pineapple Dream covered candle - a tropical holiday candle - this candle symbolizes welcome, warmth, hospitality, and friendship - all of which Uncle Bob reminded us we should be focusing on in the New Year
  • Two gray wooden frames inclusive of thoughts on 2020 and 2021 - rather than just keep the picture/label included with these new frames, inserted in one frame are some memories of 2020 and in the other a look towards 2021. I hear my Uncle's dry humor and sarcasm as I read these.
