Nandini Bagla Chirimar grew up in Jaipur, India, and studied art at the College of Art, New Delhi, Cornell University (BFA) and Maryland Institute College of Art (MFA), all with scholarships. She attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 1991, and spent four years in Japan studying Japanese Woodblock Printing with Taika Kinoshita.
Nandini's work has been shown at many international venues, including Espace Gallery in New Delhi, Ganges Gallery in Kolkata, Twelve Gates Arts in Philadelphia, Queens Museum of Art in New York, Northern Illinois University Art Museum in DeKalb, CWAJ Print Shows in Tokyo and various art fairs including India Art Fair, Delhi Contemporary Art Week, AHAF Art Fair, Korea, SLICK II Art Fair, Paris and most recently Art Basel Hong Kong Online Viewing Rooms and In Touch Digital Art Platform.
Nandini was awarded the Joan Mitchell Painters and Sculptors Grant for 2015-2016 and participated in the 2019 Wave Hill Winter Workspace Program in New York. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, Elle and Vogue India, and is part of many public and private collections including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, US Department of State and RPG Group. Nandini lives in New York City, and teaches at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop and Manhattan Graphics Center.
