Ultimate California Collection, Three-bottle collection representing some of California's Superstars!

2014 Bryant Family Vineyards Proprietary Red Blend "Bettina," Napa Valley

The 2014 Bettina is an absolutely exquisite wine. Bright, textured and wonderfully silky on the palate, the 2014 exudes class. Sweet red cherry, pomegranate, chocolate, mint, chalk and rose petal notes open up effortlessly in the glass. Tasted next to the Cabernet Sauvignon from the Bryant estate, the Bettina has more volume, power and density in all of its dimensions. A powerful, seductive wine, the 2014 captures all of the magic it showed from barrel. Blood orange, pomegranate and rose petal add an exotic flair on the finish. The 2014 is going to need a bit of time to soften, but it has been tremendous on both occasions I have tasted it from bottle so far. Bettina, a wine made from David Abreu fruit, has been deeply intriguing since it was first introduced a few years ago. The 2014 is the best version yet. In a word: magnificent.

2014 Clos Du Vall Cabernet Sauvignon, Hirondelle Vineyard, Stag's Leap District

From the vineyard around the winery property, and the addition of only 1% Cabernet Sauvignon, this is a worthy representation of how beautiful the Cabernet Franc grape can be. Herbal, earthy and structured, it has thick, firm tannin and dry, toasted oak, with intense layers of black currant, violet and blueberry. A dusty texture gives it grip and complexity. Enjoy in good time; this should be stellar from 2026-2031.

94 points, The Wine Enthusiast

2009 Maybach Cabernet Sauvignon "Materium," Weitz Vineyard, Napa Valley

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Materium from the Weitz Vineyard reveals lots of minerality along with sweet red and black currants, licorice, graphite and spring flowers. Deep and full-bodied, it is displaying a lot of tannin in addition to a reserved, backward, brooding style. Everything is there for super enjoyment and high quality, but patience is required.

95+ points, Robert Parker
