Many Marian Girls serve as caretakers in their home, especially during times like these when their parents are working hourly jobs. What they have learned in the classroom helps them cook healthy food at home, which is so important to maintaining a strong immune system.

A common Marian fleece unifies the student body and strengthens community while ensuring students are warm and comfortable throughout the school day.

Marian Girls face a multitude of challenges associated with poverty, like homelessness, gun violence, abuse and hunger. Even during (and especially in) a challenging circumstances such as the current pandemic, students value and desire meeting with our counselors, which we provide both in-school and even remotely.
Gizmos online science lab subscriptions allow students to complete select labs quickly and easily, optimizing instruction time and giving access to some labs we might not otherwise be able to complete.

On average, students enter Marian one or more levels behind in reading, which is why our Independent Reading Program is vital to their success during their entire academic journey. Marian is constantly replenishing its library with old favorites while always increasing volumes with authors and characters representative of our student population and experiences.
Subscriptions to magazines like Scope Magazine helps Marian Girls gain fresh insight and inspiration.
Subscriptions to Upfront Magazine help girls learn and discuss the most important news stories.
In both in-school and virtual learning environments, laptops ensure students can research, write and learn, and share and connect with our faculty and their peers. Marian supplied girls with laptops they could take home with them during the most recent Distance Learning Environment, so they'd be well prepared with the resources they need to be successful throughout this time.
Gardening in the urban school setting provides students access to healthy, fresh foods in otherwise inaccessible neighborhoods. Even during the recent Distance Learning Environment, Marian continued to maintain a thriving garden for when they returned.
During the last three years, students have built a motorcycle and two motor scooters, applying lessons in math, science and more. One of the motorscooters was even purchased at one of our Marian Magic auctions by one of our guests. The girls continue to participate in this highly popular class.
Building for the first time enables girls to overcome fear associated with power tools, leaving them feeling powerful, strong, and capable. Putting to use what they learn in the classroom also boosts learning effectiveness and comprehension.
