This framed print of the Shenandoah County Alms House, sometimes called the County Farm, represents a significant part of the county's history. The brick structure dates back to 1829; by 1990 it was the last alms house operating in the state of Virginia. From 1990 until 2014 the Alliance operated the shelter there for homeless families. The painting by Woodstock artist Elizabeth Strippy depicts the structure before it was destroyed by fire in 2014. The print is #5 of 50 and measures 13.5 by 22 inches. It has been professionally framed in wood suggesting weathered barn wood. Value $125.
