Once misunderstood, synonymous with syrupy-sweet pina coladas and neon Hurricanes, tiki is on quite the comeback tour. You can spot a good tiki cocktail (and its elaborate garnishes) from across the room; its bright flavors whisk you off to a tropical vacation. In this hands-on mixology class, you'll explore tiki's meandering history while learning to make -- and improvise -- the classics. We'll cover how to carve a fresh pineapple into a parrot-shaped tiki mug (yes, really!), dehydrate fruit for long-lasting tropical garnish, and make a DIY sweet, nutty orgeat syrup. Class is capped off with a boozy, low-ABV dessert demo. Finesse your at-home entertaining game for socially distant gatherings, (eventual) parties, and regular weeknights alike. Place your bid today!

Please note: This cooking experience is designed to be in-person in New Orleans for up to 12 people. If you would like to bid on this as a virtual experience, we are eager to accommodate you. Contact [email protected] for additional information.

About Deniseea Taylor
Dee Taylor was born and raised in Los Angeles, whose many cultures kindled her deep love of food and drink from a young age. She moved to New York City and began experimenting with cocktails, but eventually, like many mixologists before her, she was lured to New Orleans. After tending bar from the Drifter Hotel to Loa, Dee has mastered the art and science of cocktails, and since 2017, she has made it her mission to combine Black history and pop culture through her creations. In 2017, she launched Cocktails by POP, a pop-up serving events from Los Angeles to New York City, which has now pivoted to bring innovative cocktail experiences into the home for the "new normal." Her work has been featured in Marie-Claire and Essence.
