Artist Bio:
Born in New Jersey, Marianne graduated from Montclair State University with a BA in Education. She wanted to be an artist as far back as she could remember. Marianne and her husband, Bruce, live in Fort Mill, SC and summer at Lake George, NY.
What started as a hobby became a passion.
Although Marianne had been painting since childhood, her first meaningful oil painting lesson began in 1992 at the Ridgewood Art Institute with Master Artist John P. Osborne. Here, Marianne learned to translate value, atmospheric affects any prismatic progression from landscape to canvas.
After moving to South Carolina in 2015, Marianne studied with Andy Braitman in Charlotte, NC. Andy Braitman's lessons are conducted in the studio. The principles of painting, weather representational, impressionistic or abstract are very similar for design color and value. As well as studio painting, Marianne still paints in PleinAir to understand true values and color.
Marianne has also studied with acclaimed artists as Scott L.Christensen, Kenn Backhaus, Colley Whisson, Mark Hanson and Matt Smith to name a few.
Marianne enjoys "Paint-cations" with her husband to paint in PleinAir. She has painted on sight across the US including Rockport, MA; Nantucket, MA; Camden, ME; Charleston, SC; St. Simon Island, GA; Adirondack Mountains, NY; Sedona, AZ; Teton National Park, Wyoming and Victor, ID. Marianne has been accepted a member into The American Impressionist Society, Oil Painters of America, American Artists Professional League, The American Artists Professional League. She has been juiced into National and Regional Shows such as Oil Painters of America National and Regional shows, American Impressionist Society National and Eastern shows, American Artist League, Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club National Open Exhibit, NYC, Salmagundi Juried Open Show and Hudson Valley Art Association.
