1Can you imagine begin charged headlong by a thundering herd of buffalo? If you were a settler in the early West, such a terrifying event might be more real than imaginary. The Indians used these powerful beasts to harass the white man by stampeding them into his wagon trains. Their lands being invaded, the Indians were forced to wage warfare however they could and the buffalo stampede enabled just a few Indians to cause a great deal of damage. The buffalo would ram the wagons and the ensuing chaos would enable the Indians to steal the livestock.
