Ikat is an Indonesian dyeing technique that employs resist-dyeing on the yarns prior to dyeing and weaving the fabric. Resist-dying is a traditional method of dyeing textiles with patterns. Methods are used to "resist" or prevent the dye from reaching all the cloth, thereby creating a pattern. This stunning Ikat sarong is from Bali and measures 40 x 60 inches.
