Acrylic print (Metallic Paper)
I shot this photo on April 19, 2020 while walking on a sidewalk in a new neighborhood near my father's home in Bettendorf, Iowa. Often when I would walk I would be the only person outside in the neighborhood. This neighborhood is lawns & big new houses and sits on a former cornfield. I was in Iowa because my father could no longer live by himself & I wanted to help him live out his last years as much as possible in his home. Truth be told, I never liked living in Iowa but, this was the choice I had made. Covid was surging & about the only place I was going, aside from my walks, was the pharmacy or the supermarket. I had had back surgery the December before so under doctors orders I was to walk an hour a day.
In this photo I loved the unevenness of the grass shadowing the concrete. I thought of how nature will overtake the manmade given time & opportunity.
