A rare work by Francis L. Woodahl (1938-1984), egg tempera layered in a light blue and yellow color palette, with thick paint applications, 16 x 24 1/2", signed lower left. Francis L. Woodahl, an American Postwar and Contemporary artist was discovered early on when he was granted a scholarship to the Maryland Institute of Art. He then went on to work as an illustrator for the Navy while serving on the USS Yorktown. Francis Woodahl was the founder of the Western Artists of America. He is also recognized for the realism of his color palette, and his mastering of oil, tempera and acrylic painting in Native American Western art styles; blending these methods has made him one of the top Western realism artists of his time.
