"The person born with a talent they are meant to use will find their greatest Happiness in using it."
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I believe that I was born with a talent for making art, but I didn't discover my talent until I reached college. Coming very close to failing my Calculus class made me rethink my choice of majoring in Math! I had always liked to make things, so I decided to take a class in Art. The rest is history. I took my fledging talents to the classroom and learned what I needed to teach as I went along. Most of my time and artwork was directed towards classroom assignments. When I retired, I set a goal for myself to return to making art for my own enjoyment. The Universe led me to a teacher, Julie Youtz Rupp at the York Art Association, and my mind was blown. I was introduced to a new way of painting and creating art that spoke to me and excited me.

I had never heard of Yupo paper, a non-porous substrate made from plastic. I also had never been introduced to High Flow Acrylics and Inks. With the addition of many and varied ways of creating texture, I feel in love with Experimental Mixed Media.

My paintings are a journey! Sometimes without anything in mind, a painting is started and then it tells me what to do next. It is intuitive, though provoking, challenging and yes, sometimes frustrating. I love the freedom of it, the loose quality of it and the inventiveness of it! I am using my talent now and finding that this makes me very happy.
