The Watchers are from an exhibit I did called "Fun and Games" because most games have an audience. I am mainly a textile artist. However, the malleability and translucent quality of porcelain are what I wanted for the Watchers. My normal artists bio is below but I felt it needed a foreword for the Watcher series. Carol Reed is a natural dyer. She trained as a painter however a batik course in Italy introduced her to fiber arts. Although dyeing is an unusual medium choice it is applicable to many substrates including paper, skin, wood, etc. After many years using synthetic dyes, an interest in local resources, love of planting and the seasons led her to natural dyes. Currently she has her own dye garden and sources additional dyes through connections with local farmers and community members. Please see her web page www.carolreed.org for more information.
