Brooke Connor Design offers whimsical illustrations of nature's creatures, slightly twisted by her imagination. You can brighten your walls, desk top, or mantel with these beautiful pieces of artwork. This lovely piece features a wolf on metal. Brooke Connor is an award-winning, self-taught illustrator based in Boulder, Colorado. Early works were exclusively done with rapidograph pens, using only black ink. But when alcohol markers became available, Brooke found both a style and a passion. Her designs are created on Bristol Board and begin as realistic or semi-realistic line drawings. Starting with the lightest, most transparent ink shades, layers are applied using the varied interactions of the different hues for texture. Where extra texture is needed, patterns are added. Inspired by fabric art, including quilting, knitting and ribbon designs, the patterns fill the shapes defined by the musculature of the animal being depicted. Lastly, the focus of each piece of art is the connection of the viewer with the animal. Sometimes with the eyes, and sometimes just with attitude, the chosen pose is always meant to communicate with each viewer.
