Richard Taylor, the photographer's grandad, trains his filly CC Heartistry as a pile of scrap wood from his old barn burns next to the track on his farm in Westfield, IN, Friday May 18, 2012. Taylor was a Standardbred horse trainer, driver, and breeder who ran his small operation near Indianapolis for 47 years. He died in 2016.
Photographer's Bio:
Victor J. Blue is a photojournalist originally from North Carolina. He lived and worked many years for newspapers in California, earned a masters degree in Ohio, and is now based in Brooklyn, NY. Blue covers national and international news stories for major newspapers and magazines, shoots long term projects that accompany the conflict in Afghanistan and post-conflict Guatemala, and maintains personal documentary projects that span decades. He strives to constantly refine and renew the audacity and astuteness of his observation and communication in pursuit of truth.
