Title: Herby

Artist: Kristin Murphy

Medium: Watercolor

Dimensions: 8" x 10"

Among a group of 20+ dogs that were rescued from a hoarding situation was Herby. Herby came to us paralyzed and with severe burns down his back. We were told that in his previous home he was placed too close to a space heater and was unable to move away from it. Neglect and paralysis kept him a prisoner to the blistering heat which caused the painful burns. As soon as he came in, our vet clinic began treating his ailments. Despite being paralyzed and in pain, he still managed to wag his tail in gratitude. We truly do not deserve dogs.

As Herby healed, his personality began to come through and shine. He found his voice and would talk to his heart's content. Although he couldn't move his legs, he still played with toys and even started "singing" when his favorite people came to see him. Getting kisses and basking in the sun are Herby's favorite things.

Herby went home to a medical foster home to continue his healing. To say that Diane is magical is not enough! Diane takes in those with specific medical needs and nurses them back to health. With her help, Herby began to gain weight and grow stronger. He was even gifted a custom wheelchair so he could begin strengthening his legs. Before we knew it, Herby was starting to kick his legs and push his chair all by himself! Everyday Herby moves a little more and we fall further in love with this sweet, strong, determined boy. Look out world, here comes Herby! He deserves all the love that he's getting from near and far!
