Title: Time To Move

Artist: Donna Lochmann

Medium: Digital Photograph with repurposed window

Dimensions: 16.5" x 21"

Animal depicted is Lily Monet

When a woman saw this dog actually walking out onto the roof, she contacted Stray Rescue to help. The front of the house didn't appear to be in bad shape but when we got around back, we realized it was actually dilapidated and falling apart inside. We could see up through the floor to the top level where we had seen the dog in the window when we arrived. The steps getting up to that level would prove to be a little challenging because the bottom 3-4 steps were missing, and we could see through the floor to the basement. We found the footboard to a bed frame, and that's what I used to get from the landing to the first available step.

Once upstairs, I could see that the dog was lying on the bed in the front room. It looked like a tornado had gone through the room. There was insulation hanging out all over, items left from the last tenant, and I could see through part of this floor to the level below. She was apprehensive at first, but then came along with me until we got to the steps. I picked her up and started down. When we got to the missing steps, I slid down the footboard with the dog in my arms. We got outside, and I think she was relieved to be out. I know I was!
