Title: Carpenter's Cabinets

Artist: Donna Lochmann

Medium: Digital Photograph with repurposed window

Dimensions: 24" x 24"

Animal depicted is Carpenter

This boy was originally seen hiding under a mattress in an alley. I had just rescued some puppies, so I would have to come back for him. He must have felt safe in this alley because hours later when I went back, he was still in the same spot. Now though, instead of being under that mattress, he was hiding in a pile of old cabinets.

He was very leery and not at all interested in letting me leash him. He kept coming up for the Vienna sausages, but growled when I tried to put the slip lead on him. Carpenter would prove to be a bit of a challenge!

I finally got him leashed, but as soon as I put tension on the leash he growled and flipped out. It was time to get creative since I was doing this by myself. I had a trap, which I had tried earlier and he was not going in. But now that he was leashed, I set the trap up and fed the leash through the end of the trap and maneuvered him in. I was determined to get him off the street!

Carpenter has his friends at the shelter, but is still looking for that special person to be his forever home.
