Animal Depicted is Sherlock Holmes

This sweet angel, it breaks our hearts to tell his story. We received a call that there was a stray dog being attacked by another dog in a neighborhood in North St. Louis. When we arrived, the dogs had separated, but we found a poor, severely injured baby we named Sherlock Holmes. In pain as the Rescue Jeep drove him back to Stray Rescue's trauma center, he whined and cried the whole way. Despite getting expert medical treatment from our veterinary team in our trauma center, Sherlock's body succumbed to his injuries. Since Stray Rescue is a no-kill facility and we go above and beyond to save EVERY animal no matter the cost, the time or the resources - I think it hits us a little harder when we aren't able to save them. We can take comfort in knowing he received so much love from Donna, the veterinary team, and Stray Rescue staff in the short time he was with us. And he will always be remembered which I think is one of the greatest gifts for a stray/street dog.
