It was a freezing cold day and the sun began to set. That's when a call came in that a very skinny, scared dog was seen running across the street. We received calls almost every day about this dog and could never find him. This time, we found him by chance. He was curled up, as small as he could make himself, right next to the highway in a ditch. This is the place he felt safe to spend the night, and our hearts broke for him.

We threw some delicious chicken his way and set up a trap, but he didn't budge. The wind howled, the sun sunk deeper, and temperatures plummeted. With the sound of the highway next to us, Donna crept as slowly as possible toward him with a lead in hand. Slowly, stealthily and quietly, she crawled all the way up to where he was laying. With great expertise, she looped the leash around his head and pulled it tight. He was startled and started to buck, but with a calm demeanor and a kind voice, he finally calmed down. We lifted him into the jeep and were so grateful he wouldn't spend another night in the bitter cold.

As soon as we got to the shelter, this sweet boy melted and accepted all of our love!
