Space Weather News

Description:

Space Weather News is a provider of news, analysis and forecasting of space weather and terrestrial events, as well as a research organization in the field of solar-terrestrial physics.

We are a husband and wife team (Ben and Kat Davidson) based out of Colorado Springs, CO.

Ben's YouTube channel launched in 2011, offering a short concise summary and analysis of solar activity and the latest reports in academia- out by 6:30 EST every day. In 2014, we converted an old RV into The Mobile Observatory Project, travelled across 41 states and 4 provinces in 8 months, visiting museums, planetariums, schools, sharing information about the sun and letting kids see sunspots with their own eyes! We also created an app, The Disaster Prediction App, which combines numerous models of disaster precursors to warn of high-risk times for earthquakes, tropical storms, and solar storms. After our adventures on the road, we launched an annual conference series, Observing the Frontier, bringing together solar physicists, scientists, professors, to share their work with attendees of all ages.

Our journey into self publishing has been a fun one - we have a technical guide called 'Weatherman's Guide to the Sun', and two children's books, 'Kira and Lulu Visit the Sun' and ' Kira and Lulu Visit the Planets'. The Kira and Lulu books takes kids on an adventure to learn about the sun, the connection between solar flares and auroras, and special features about each planet. Our technical guide is a literature review covering ~500 of the most-important studies describing the interactions of earth and sun, including a new chapter on extreme solar activity. We hope to share our love of science and all things sun and space with you!
