Calling all horse and hounds fans: This handsome trio of prints are based on 1852 lithographs by J.F. Herring that were engraved by J. Harris in 1867. The fox hunting scenes are titled "The Meet," "Breaking Cover" and "Full Cry." Beautifully framed by Leslie H. Spetz Gallery, these scenes will add an old world charm to your den or study.
About the Artist: John Frederick Herring Sr. was a renowned animal and sporting painter in the 1800s. He specialized in racehorses, painting many of the winners of the period. Herring's portraits of these horses were later engraved by many of the great engravers of the day. Later on in life he turned to farm scenes, and his son J. F. Herring Jr. also produced similar work.
