As part of his "gentleman's education" shortly after the Civil War & before his father called him back to New York, William West Durant made a Grand European Tour visiting famous sites in Europe & Northern Africa. He kept a detailed diary and bought many books about what he'd seen. His WWD initials were important to him because he used them in buildings and furniture when he built Sagamore & his other Camps. Those initials are prominent in the bookplate he designed for his library.
From their library, Peter & Sue Durant have generously given us one of WWD's rare surviving bookplates(pictured) to auction for Great Camp Sagamore's benefit.
This one-of-a-kind item you cannot & will not find in an antique store or on eBay. It was used while WWD occupied Great Camp Sagamore & is a unique, priceless reminder for you of the builder & his creation that we all continue to enjoy. Bookplate 4"x2.75"
