Tarpon 3D Wood Art by Matt Herman at Hometown Inspirations

This custom crafted wood and leather wall art decor was created using one of Matt Herman's illustrated scientific study interpretations of a Tarpon as the focal point. The art is then programmed using intricate laser engraving processes to ensure high quality detail. The heavily distressed wooden border frame was custom made for this series. Each piece is designed with 2 layers of birch wood and 1 layer of 7-9 oz. thick genuine leather showing hand stained colors of english bridle and navy shade. Proudly made in Tallahassee, FL. USA.

These innovative art pieces are illustrated, designed and built by us, using sheets of wood and cowhide leather. We create and are inspired by the people around us and the love of what we do. Every piece is unique and original, because each piece of wood and leather reacts differently to our staining and development process.

The artist, Matt Herman has been merchandising and illustrating for the apparel industry for over 28 years, illustrating for companies like Paramount, Mellow Mushroom, Orange County Choppers and many other large brands. He fell in love with the coastal and fishing industry in 2014 when he became Art Director for Huk until 2019. Now he freelance illustrates, brand builds and merchandises for the coastal, fishing and hunting industries. He also has started up Hometown Inspiration, LLC with his wife, Rachel, making custom leather and wood products. Hard work, honesty, and integrity are his values and what he brings to the table every time.
