Big Cat Rescue, located in Tampa about 15 minutes NW of the airport, is home to approximately 50 tigers, leopards, bobcats, etc. The cats are housed in natural settings and in some cases you may be within 4 feet of these majestic animals.

Big Cat Rescue is one of the world's largest accredited sanctuaries for abused, orphaned and abandoned exotic cats. Many were retired from circuses or were saved from roadside zoos, from unqualified individuals keeping them as pets or from those who planned to turn them into fur coats.

Its mission is to provide the best home possible for the cats in its care, end abuse of big cats in captivity and prevent extinction of big cats in the wild. They do not buy, sell or breed cats, allow petting or take cats offsite for display.

Their objective is to educate the public about the plight of exotic cats so that some day there will be no need for a sanctuary to exist.
