About the Item

This piece features an etched pattern and paint on fabricated steel. Eric's process uses nitric acid to etch detailed patterns in plate steel using a similar process to intaglio printmaking. Once the pattern is determined, it is then etched into steel while still in plate form. When the selected numbers of prints are made, the plate is then struck. The striking then becomes the actual act of forging or fabricating the material into a physical object. In doing all of this, it allows Eric to explore the realm of two-dimension while continuing to be a three-dimensional artist.

The piece measures 40" x 14" x 8".

This piece will be shipped directly to the purchaser, or to the Metal Museum, for pickup following the auction. Please note that because of this arrangement with the artist, it is not available for preview appointments.
