About the Item

This piece was created in the Forging on the River 2019 pre-conference workshop led by Alan Evans. As with Evans' other work, the piece was designed as a site-specific response to the Metal Museum. Over the years, his work has developed into an intuitive or emotional response to sites and is heavily guided with the way people interact with the spaces concerned.

Created from mild steel, and finished with a rust patina, this piece is designed to be installed in alignment with the cardinal directions. While the top will move with the wind, the wind needs to be pretty strong.

The piece measures approximately 43" wide; 55" deep; and 8' tall. $$$. Installation of this piece by Museum staff can be arranged for an additional fee.

Proceeds from the sale of this piece will be designated towards scholarships for artists to attend advanced annual education programming such as the Forging on the River and the FIRE Conferences.

About the Artist
Alan Evans is an internationally recognized artist-blacksmith and was the featured demonstrator for the Forging on the River 2019 conference held at the Metal Museum. He has been working in the UK since 1978 making original site-specific architectural ironwork. He has completed work for the Royal Society of Arts, City Church in Milton Keynes, and the Art Galley in Cheltenham, among others.
