Charred Locust Wood, Finished with Natural Wax
Christian Nyberg uses fire and embers to create his sculptural and functional pieces. Using coals and embers placed directly on the wood, he lets them decide the final shape of the depression and outer surface. After many steps of burning and scraping away the charred wood, each piece is oiled and waxed. Christian sometimes uses lumber, and other times uses felled tree branches for his pieces. Each piece has his signature inlaid brass dot.
