Sam Kittner

Glory in Restoring (Washington, DC, 2014)

It takes the eye of an architectural photographer (with a photojournalism background) to find exquisite beauty in a building covered by scaffolding. DC-based Sam Kittner had good material to work with - the beautiful dome of the U.S. Capitol Building - and a knack for capturing the essence of a building. The restoration project started in 2014, and involved new paint and repairing or replacing ornate ironwork to preserve the original dome.
