Artist Bio:

" Unencumbered time to create and reflect , to immerse yourself in your work....For an artist these is no greater gift." I am lucky to be enjoying that gift at this time in my life. Sometimes creative ideas explode within me and I have to sit down and create to feel a sense of balance within myself. It is a form of therapy and expression at the same time.

I was an art major in college and earned a BA in Design at UCLA 1968. Then I taught ceramic art in secondary schools in Los Angeles. This led to selling pottery at craft shows for several years before going into my own art retail stores called Down Home Arts and Crafts. I lost myself in the business of art instead of doing art but enjoyed speaking and encouraging other artists to turn their artistic talents into a business. I continued down the path of business getting a masters in Human Resources and Organizational Behavior and had a second career in training and development that allowed me to teach again and do Visioning with corporations to express my creative side. I traveled the world and enjoyed every minute of this career.

Now in retirement my focus has shifted from business to really looking at the beauty all around me. I like using different media to express my ideas and find that mixing media holds a special interest for me. Combining found objects, ceramics, jewelry watercolors produce delightful memories of my travels or emotional experiences in my life. Watercolor, acrylic, pastels and ceramics are all areas for new exploration and creative combinations to discover.

Lately after taking classes from Terry Dowell in Aptos Ca. I learned about Encaustic, a wax painting medium. It has combined much of my former skills in painting, and collage and love of abstract and impressionistic art. I currently show my work at the Studios on the Park as part of the PRAA. It is very fulfilling to sell my work and be a part of this art association.
