Stephanie's donation is a cast glass work depicting a Cardinal
The glass sculpture of Stephanie Trenchard demonstrates her interest in culture and history; it also cites the artist's skill in uniting creative and technical aspects to create painterly, luminous sculpture. Stephanie's castings are created by making an impression in sand, putting in powdered patterns, then pouring molten glass (at temperatures above 2,000 oF) halfway into the mold. Then she sets in her pre-made glass objects and adds individual details. Using paradise paints, glass powders, and frits, Trenchard is able to achieve luminosity rivaling any oil paint. She then pours more glass to fill the impression. The whole process of assembling each piece is very quick, lasting only about three minutes. Each piece then cools for a period of days.
