Zingiber mioga 'Crûg's Zing' / Size: 5" pot
This ginger, a prized Asian culinary plant, is from the Korean island of Jejudo (formerly Cheju or Cheju-do). While this is a true culinary ginger, instead of the juicy rhizome, it is the flower buds that are eaten. The flowers appear at soil level, yellow in when in bud, and a pastel violet-pink once opened. The leaves grow to about 3' tall and resemble corn leaves. This perennial is hardy to Zones 5-6, blooms July-August, and prefers moist soil.
