Thrinax radiata / Size: 6" pot

Another native palm species, the Florida Thatch palm is a slow-growing palm that grows in Southern Florida through many of the Caribbean islands. Found in costal habitats, the short stem with a cluster of light-green leaves are great wildlife habitat for nesting birds and some native butterfly species. Eventually reaching 15 feet or more in time, this palm is extremely durable, drought tolerant, and stands up well to salt spray and even hurricane winds. This species from dryland scrub is listed as endangered in Florida but this plant is grown from seeds collected and cultivated from our glasshouse collections.
