Synechanthus fibrosus / Size: 6" pot

Another wonderful palm grown from our glasshouse collections, Synechanthus fibrosus is uncommon in the trade but makes an excellent addition to a somewhat shaded and protected area in the tropical landscape. A fast-growing species that can reach maturity in 10 years it reaches a height of 8-10' tall with narrow bamboo-like stems and soft pinnate leaves. It resembles a Chamaedorea palm with an open brush-like multi-branched inflorescence with attractive round bright red-orange fruits, from which it gets its common name of Jellybean Palm. It is a lovely small palm that always draws attention when in fruit. This specimen is grown from seed from our glasshouse collections.
