Syringa vulgaris 'Charles Joly' / Size: 4-5' tall, B&B root ball

'Charles Joly' boasts showy fragrant double purple flowers mid-season, typically around the beginning of May at NYBG. This 1896 French selection has truly stood the test of time, winning an RHS Award of Garden Merit in 1993. 'Charles Joly' is another wonderful introduction from famed lilac breeder Victor Lemoine, who named this selection for Victor Charles Joly (1818 - 1902), a French physician and horticultural writer. Hardy to Zone 4, this lilac prefers well-drained soils and a sunny garden location. This variety has stood the test of time, performing well in gardens offering up its familiar lilac scent and eye-catching double florets with twisted petals in bright purple and deep magenta hues.

Tree delivery fees ranges from $350 - 600. See map. Please select your zone at checkout under "Large Plant Delivery." Your entire order is included in this fee.
