'Never Say Never' is an acrylic work on wood panel by local artist and mental health advocate Frederick Nitsch. Frederick shares his story of Trilogy's profound impact on his life during the Tril-a-Thon program.

"I began painting when I was a senior in college," Frederick told us. "It was a way to do something non-linguistic while writing my thesis and feeling very caught up in anxiety. I focused on trying to blur colors together and make my paintings look soft." This piece "was an attempt to use only the primary colors to make a landscape, of sorts, that looked like it was made of clouds."

Frederick recently completed a solo exhibit at Oliva Gallery in Logan Square and is currently exhibiting mixed media work in a two-person virtual show online.

'Never Say Never' is 36" x 36" acrylic on a 1.5" deep cradled wooden panel (relatively lightweight for its size), and is wired for hanging. The sides are painted a crimson/burgundy like in some of the darkest parts of the piece itself, although they aren't varnished like the rest of the painting so the color is slightly more muted.
