ABOUT THE RESTAURANT
Chefs Alex Raij and Eder Montero are the husband and wife team behind this bustling Cobble Hill Brooklyn restaurant. La Vara celebrates the Jewish and Moorish legacies in regional Spanish cuisine- perfumed with aromas of saffron, cumin, and orange blossom. The bold and improvisational nature of our menu showcases food and wine that is contemporary, original, and authentic all at once.

ABOUT MICHELIN GUIDE POINT OF VIEW
Chef Alex Raij knows her tapas and helped kick-start the craze in Manhattan when she opened beloved Tía Pol years ago, before moving on to the equally popular El Quinto Pino. In 2012, the chef jumped boroughs to Brooklyn and opened La Vara, which she co-owns with husband, Eder Montero. Billing itself as "cocina casera" or "home cooking," this kitchen elevates humble cuisine to such impressive levels that it's proved well worth the cab trip for non-Brooklynites. Product quality is excellent, and the playful spirit behind dishes is the definition of creative cooking. Menu highlights include salmorejo, a delicate and flavorful salt cod carpaccio, and crispy suckling pig, with confit-tender meat. End with melocoton, or wine-poached peaches in a light custard.

Theater For New Audience: 2 tickets to WAITING FOR GODOT!

DATES
April 25 - May 24, 2020

ABOUT THE SHOW
Directed by Arin Arbus
Written by Samuel Beckett

Since their first appearance in a tiny Paris theater in 1953, Samuel Beckett's iconic down-and-outs Vladimir and Estragon have rarely been off the stage. Nearly every evening, somewhere on the globe, they show up for their dubious appointment with a savior named Godot who never comes, filling time with games and musing aphoristically on existence. Hilarious and heartbreaking, Waiting for Godot is the modern theater's indispensable document of rootlessness, uncertainty, and perpetually postponed deliverance.

ABOUT TFANA
Founded in 1979 by Jeffrey Horowitz, Theatre for a New Audience is a modern classical theatre that produces Shakespeare alongside major classic and contemporary plays with some of today's most exciting artists. In 2019-2020 season, the Theatre is celebrating its 40th Anniversary.
