About the artist:

Dorothy Langseder (1928-2018) of Palisades Park, NJ and in later years, Yankee Lake, NY began exhibiting her oil paintings publicly in 1962. In addition to teaching oil painting to hundreds of people, her award-winning paintings appeared in solo shows at colleges and universities, banks, libraries, theatres and nature centers and were featured in leading artists' magazines.

A resident of Yankee Lake for 40 years, Dorothy served as Executive Director of the Catskill Art Society and exhibited her work at many locations throughout Sullivan County, NY. After she retired from the Sullivan County art scene in 1990, she quietly pursued her passion at her Yankee Art Studio painting flowers from her husband's garden, watercolors of Yankee Lake in all seasons, and landscapes of the countryside. A statement from the artist about her work sums up her feelings: "Hopefully my paintings speak for themselves and don't need pages of words to make an impression. I hope what moves me will move others, especially the colors God created." Dorothy had a God-given gift through the artwork she was able to create without formal training.
