At Home with Habitat: Virtual Auction

Bidding is Open | Closes on Sunday, July 19th at 6:00 PM

At Habitat, we understand the power of home. As our community continues to navigate the pandemic, many have learned what "home" truly means to them. Housing is an essential part of healthcare. The ability to stay "safer at home" or "shelter in place" relies on the condition that you have a safe and adequate place to take shelter in.

Despite the pandemic, Habitat Pinellas and West Pasco continues to work with families who partner with us to build and purchase a safe and affordable home. Today, over 630 Habitat homeowners have a safe place to take shelter in during the pandemic after completing the life changing Habitat homeownership program.

For the Coppola family, the life changing journey towards stability has a new meaning due to COVID-19.

When Siouxzen entered the Habitat program, her and her two children were sharing a space with her mother. Siouxzen's daughter, Amor'e, has cerebral palsy and a chronic lung condition, and relies on a wheelchair for mobility. She is a "happy-go-lucky" eight year old who loves to play with "the best little brother", Leland.

Siouxzen explains the beginning of her Habitat journey as pure joy. "When I found out I was accepted into the Habitat program, I cried. It's like all of my dreams became true. I loved the thought of the children having their own space, and having wheelchair accessibility." The Coppola's closed on their home in February of this year.

The mother of two is an essential worker who continues to navigate the pandemic with her children's safety and schooling in mind. Owning their own home has made a huge impact on both kids, especially during the changes caused by the pandemic. While his mom continues to work full time, Leland is now home schooled four extra hours a day, in addition to juggling Amor'e's therapy sessions. Siouxzen says this is difficult, but with their Habitat home, Leland now has a quite environment to study in as opposed to the overcrowded situation they were in previously.

Through our At Home with Habitat Virtual Auction, your support will help more families experience the stability that the Coppola family has benefited from.
