Artist: Marnie Claunch

Medium: Acrylic on Canvas

Dimensions: 24" x 36"

Animal Depicted is Shadow and his story is below:

A good Samaritan found a badly injured dog and brough him to Stray Rescue. His skin had been degloved and he had severe road rash. He had been hit by a car - hard. He wore a collar with a tag and even had a leash on. His tag read, "Shadow". We called the phone number but it went straight to voicemail. We left several messages. What had happened to this boy? Someone had to be looking for him.

We posted him on social media hoping someone would recognize this poor senior boy. If he didn't make it, we wanted his family to be with him. To our luck, someone called - the did recognize him. He was the dog of one of their friends who had been missing for several days. He hadn't been at school or work. Then his mother called. She lived out of state but said he would never leave his dog/s side. Something terrible had happened.

A few days later, Shadow's dad called us. He had been in a bad car accident. Shadow was in the car with him, but jumped out the window, where he got hit again. His dad was so thankful we were treating his dog. His car had been totaled with his phone in it, so he didn't know where his dog was. He came to Stray Rescue everyday via skateboard, to sit with his dog and spend hours with him while he healed. They would sit and listen to music and he would help feed him and give him all of his medications. Their bond was incredible.

A few months later, Shadow made a full recovery and his dad was able to take him home!
