Title: Moose & Antler

Artist: JD Dehne

Medium: Acrylic on Glass

Dimensions: 12" x 4" x 4"

Animals depicted are Moose and Antler and their story is below:

During one of our biggest snowstorms this past winter, Donna was driving around East St. Louis looking for any animals who may need our help. She ended up seeing three older puppies who were obviously searching for food. Because our shelter was so full at the time and these pups did not appear to be injured, Donna was only planning to give these pups a nice big meal and put them on her list to return to feed and hopefully rescue when we had more space in our shelter. However, as she was feeding them, a man from the neighborhood ran up asking if they were her dogs. When she said no, he said "well the next time you see them, they may be face down - I'm gonna shoot 'em! One of them stole my boot off the porch and I had to go in the snow with one shoe!!" Since we felt they were in immediate danger, Donna decided to go ahead and rescue them! Unfortunately the third puppy ran off and disappeared. She was only able to rescue Moose & Antler that day in the snow. Moose & Antler were very shy at first and didn't know how to trust humans. However, with a little patience and a lot of work - they learned that humans were not all bad! They were adopted together to a loving forever home and now get to live their days playing in the backyard and snuggling on the couch or a big, soft dog bed! They even have a shy/feral foster sister who they are helping to socialize, too! We eventually ended up finding and rescuing the third puppy, who we named Guppy - she quickly got adopted by a loving family as well! We love happy endings!

Status: Adopted!
