Title: "Gema"

Artist: Karen S. Freebersyser

Medium: Acrylic on Canvas

Dimensions: 24" x 24"

Animal Depicted is Gema and her story is below:

Animals never cease to amaze us! Just when we think we've seen it all, a very special puppy comes along to prove us wrong. This was Gema! When she was born and the family saw her deformities, they weren't sure what to do or how to care for her. They reached out to Stray Rescue and surrendered her to us so they could give her a fighting chance. They wanted to give her the best life she could possibly have. At Stray Rescue of St. Louis, we exhaust all efforts to provide the medical care every animal needs, regardless of cost. We believe every soul deserves the chance to live a life of love and comfort, and we will stop at nothing to give them that chance.

"When her original family reached out to us for help, of course we immediately brought Gema into the Stray Rescue family. They did what was in the best interest of this little puppy, and we commend them for that. She will get everything she needs to have the brightest future possible," said Cassady Caldwell, Executive Director.

When she came to us, she was an adorable 3-month-old puppy who was born with 5 paws which make her extra special, but she has no idea she's different than any other playful puppy. Gema is a petite little sweetie with big beautiful eyes and spotted ears. She tires quickly but plays just like any other pup. We're told this adorable little girl was three times smaller than all of her siblings, who are Great Dane mixes. Her coordination and balance are good, and she became a pro at using her back legs. In fact, she stands up like a kangaroo!

We promised Gema we would do everything possible to help her. We think she knew she was in loving hands because her tail never stopped wagging. Gema loves to be held and cuddled, and we're happy to oblige.

Whether she will have a surgery in the future is currently unknown, but she has found her loving forever home and will be loved and spoiled for the rest of her life.

Status: Adopted!
