Artist: Victoria Szulc

Medium: Charcoal/Pastel Drawing on Fine Print Paper

Dimensions: 18" x 23"

Animal Depicted is Calamity Jane and her story is below:

We got a call from a large warehouse that a Mastiff was hanging around the property. We went to check it out, and we arrived to see such a sad sight. This girl was old and broken down. She looked like she had been used for breeding. She hid in a corner behind a semi-truck and hung her head, as if she was trying to be invisible. For such a huge dog she tucked into the tiniest ball she could.

Donna approached slowly, speaking in her kind, patient way. She offered her some Vienna sausages. This old girl wanted them, but wouldn't get up. Slowly she the lead around her neck and pulled a little to guide her up. SHe was so tired and dirty. As soon as we got in the Jeep, she seemed much more comfortable with us. We made her apartment with the softest blankets we could find and she fell asleep immediately. She was done living outside. She could finally let her guard down and rest.

Status: Adopted.
