Title: "Polo"

Artist: Jason Schwartz

Medium: Pencil sketch

Dimensions: 12.5"x 10"

Animal depicted is Polo and below is his rescue story:

On January 2nd, we got a call from a concerned neighbor about a dog that was chained up in the backyard of an abandoned home. They had been feeding this dog for a while, but really got concerned because his face had begun to swell up severely and they were concerned about his health and safety! When Donna and I arrived, we met the neighbor and her kids, who had been looking out for this dog. They told us the owner of the home had been arrested months ago and someone from down the street claimed to be taking care of him - but only showed up to feed him maybe once a week, if he remembered. Polo was very sweet with the neighbor kids, and greeted us with nothing but a wagging tail! He definitely needed medical attention. We cut his chain and rushed him back to the Trauma Center. We were unsure if his collar was so tight that it was causing the swelling, or if the swelling had come from a wound that had gotten infected and that was why the collar was so tight. We started him on antibiotics and removed the collar. Once the swelling went down, our vets were able to see that he did have what looked to be bite wounds that had gone untreated and gotten infected. He quickly healed and found his forever home! He'll never have to live on the end of heavy chain, in the middle of winter, wondering when his next meal would be. He will only know love, comfort and happiness for the rest of his life!

Status: Adopted!
