Michael Roman (1956-2016) was a Chicano artist known for using Aztec and African imagery in stencil painting, silkscreen prints, album covers and fashion designs. One of the most outstanding, productive and original artists in San Francisco, his work has been described as Latino Wildstyle and is in the collections of the New York Textile Museum and the San Francisco Mexican Museum.

His creativity and generosity was admired. He was a starving artist and sold his colorful prints on the street of the Mission. He wore his heart on his sleeve and expressed his emotions freely and openly.
