This gorgeous portrait of FSD mama dog, Sky, and a litter of her FSD born-and-bred puppies was carefully and skillfully created by FSD client, Austen. Sky has had 23 puppies (both chocolate and black labs) in her breeding career at Freedom Service Dogs - none are old enough to have become service dogs yet, though. Sky was retired after her most recent litter, and has been adopted by her FSD Guardian Home! Austen (they/them) has been a Freedom Service Dogs Client since 2018, when they graduated from the Disco's Dogs program with their service dog Murdoch. Since then, Murdoch has eagerly joined Austen on many adventures and is always up for a warm hug. Austen is now 14 and an accomplished artist. They wanted to create a digital art piece for this year's Diamonds in the Ruff auction and chose to honor Sky (the Wonderdog!). When asked about their choices for this art piece Austen said "I wanted to make a very special and unique drawing and I wanted it to have a lot of character so I made it very colorful. I gave the different lights in the reference photo of Sky different colors and chose to color the puppies different colors so they would each stand apart as individuals." Austen is very grateful to FSD for Murdoch, who is very special to them. They also love the FSD community for all the amazing things they do for people and the wonderful dogs they train.
