Bird is Brooklyn's premier fashion destination, embodying the borough's creative spirit since 1999. Bird believes that fashion is fun. We support the best emerging and established designers with a focus on locally and sustainably produced independent collections. We love color, we love prints and while we are always interested in trends, we don't believe in following any fashion rules. We think an outfit is more interesting when it enhances what the wearer has to say and provide opportunities for expression by curating the most unique, beautiful and intelligent designs from around the world. Bird is about being open, staying curious and always willing to try something new. Bird has sustained a steady growth throughout Brooklyn, supported by the innovative designs of Norwegian architect Ole Sondresen. In 2006, Bird expanded to Cobble Hill with a store front on Smith Street, followed by the relocation of the original Park Slope store to its current home on 5th Avenue. In 2009, Bird opened its third and flagship location in Williamsburg, offering a permanent men's assortment in addition to its meticulous women's offer. In 2017, an additional Brooklyn location in Fort Greene was added to the brand's roster. This location was quickly followed by the opening of our largest flagship to-date, and first Los Angeles location, in Culver City, California. Bird remains true to the unique aesthetic of each neighborhood with location-specific collections. Bird actively promotes strong eco-conscious ideals through its community partnerships and endeavors. Strict sustainability and green-building standards were maintained throughout the construction of the Williamsburg outpost, resulting in the coveted LEED-CI Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, the first retail establishment to receive this certification in New York. The Williamsburg flagship upholds Bird's practice of nurturing creativity through its unique collaborations and rotating art installations. With an extensive roster of past contributors such as Clara Claus, Sufjan Stevens, Mike Perry and many others, Bird's influence continues to extend far beyond the fashion world.
