The Playfair family forebears have been traveling and golfing for over 200 years, having a hand or more in founding clubs all over the world, including Scotland (Scotscraig GC, 1818, and the Union Club, St Andrews, 1835, which later merged with the Royal & Ancient Golf Club), India (Royal Calcutta GC, 1829, and others), Australia (Royal Melbourne, 1891, and Elanora CC, 1928) and Japan (Kobe Golf Club, 1903).
