Enjoy a Georgian wine tasting and appetizers, hosted in the home of Murch parents Jeff and Salta Liebert, who invest in wineries and wine chateaus in the country of Georgia.

During this unique cross-cultural experience our guests will be guided through the history of Georgian wine making, starting with traditional red and amber quevri wine naturally produced in large ceramic amphoras, then hybrid European and quevri-made wine that includes some aging in oak barrels, to modern European style Georgian wines, and finally trendy bio/natural wines in which Georgia has been the market leader. Appetizers will also be served.

The country of Georgia is known as the world's cradle of wine with a vintner tradition that dates back 8,000 years. Hermetically sealed off from most Western countries because of the Soviet Union, Georgia has only recently begun to export its wines to the American market. Over the course of an evening, our 14 guests will have the opportunity to taste the great wines of Georgia, including traditional and European, and bio and amber (also known as "orange") styled wines.

The wines will be provided in partnership with Georgian Wine House (http://georgianwinehouse.com/), the first and leading distributor of Georgian wines in the United States, and Batch 13, a local wine store owned by a Georgian national located on 14th Street.

Note: The event will be held on a date TBD in the 2020-21 school year.

If you would like your own collection of Georgian wines to enjoy at home, please also see the related listing for Item #238, "Build a Georgian Wine Cellar" (in the Entertainment and Experiences category).
