Alyeska Totem

by C. Ryan Pierce

48" x 36" Acrylic on Canvas

Ryan is Lumbee, a Native American Tribe from North Carolina, who got their name from the local Lumber River. He studied art at Eastern Michigan University, Henry Ford Community College and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Northern Michigan University.

This piece, titled "Alyeska Totem", is a study from the totem which can be seen in the hotel lobby at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood. Ryan often enlarges and highly crops his subject to create a more dramatic composition.

This is Ryan's seventh year donating to Koahnic Broadcast Corporation's Alaska Native Art Auction.
